Q. When my car is in an accident, do I have to take it to a shop that my insurance company recommends?

A. By Michigan law you have the right to take your vehicle to any repair facility you want. When an Insurance company informs you that you HAVE to take it to a certain repair facility that is called “steering” and is against the law. However, there are “preferred shops” that are on the direct repair program and can speed the process generally up to one day. You will still have the same warranty whether you go to their preferred shop or not.

Q. If I have a leased car, is it necessary to get it fixed at the dealership I purchased it from?

A. It is not necessary to get your vehicle repaired at a dealership. In many cases it is faster to get your vehicle repaired from an independent shop than the dealership. Many customers believe “I bought the vehicle here, so I have to take it here” or “They must know what they’re doing since it’s a dealership”, but that’s not always the case. At J & J Collision we offer a lifetime warranty on all our repairs and our technicians are certified to provide the customer with the best possible repair. We are an educated facility that stays on top of the current industry’s demands.

Q: Will you be able to achieve a perfect color match on my vehicle?

A. From the factory there is a certain tolerance they are allowed when painting their vehicles. What this means is the first vehicle that comes off the assembly line, to the last, will have the same color however, the shade or variance will be slightly different. To achieve a perfect color usually the adjacent panel will have to be painted. Also, from the factory the bumper covers are painted at a different facility. If you get the chance, go to a dealership and look at a new silver vehicle. You will see that the bumpers do not have a perfect color match to the rest of the vehicle.

Q: What type of parts will be used in the repair of my vehicle?

A. OEM certified parts are used to repair vehicles unless otherwise stated. Will work around your budget, we work for you to give you the best possible repair. Insurance companies will only pay for aftermarket parts, UNLESS you have a different plan “which costs extra” that states some exterior parts will be OEM.

Q: How can I check on the status of my car repair?

Q: What is covered on my warranty with J&J?

A. At J&J Collision we offer a lifetime warranty on all our repairs and do not void your manufacturer’s warranty.

Q: Are your shop and technicians certified?

A. All our technicians are ASE certified and the shop is I-CAR Gold certified. We have many other certifications from aluminum repair, refinishing, and Chief frame repair/straightening.
